The son-in-law Heinrich Scheidel joins the company in 1946. Expansion into other areas of activity occurs. Thanks to his entrepreneurial spirit, after the end of the war in the Rhine-Neckar area, he is able to make the DIRINGER & SCHEIDEL Bauunternehmung GmbH & Co. KG one of the most important medium-sized companies in all building construction and civil engineering sectors.
Building on this solid foundation, his son Heinz Scheidel takes over the business not only to continue, but also to anticipate the rapid structural change within the the construction industry.
In view of the increasing concentration of companies in the construction industry, one entrepreneurial answer is "Take over instead of being taken over". By targeted investments and company expansions, the course is set for the company to also work in special markets in the future. Parallel to the implementation of numerous construction measures for industry, trade and economy, project developments were already being introduced at the beginning of the 70s.
The cycle of raw material production, refinement and processing is closed. The Group now has its own facilities for the extraction of raw materials, the production of construction materials and the sale of mainly lime sand and porous stone as well as ready-mixed concrete and today also recycled concrete as the first certified company in Baden-Württemberg. With the German reunification, D&S also transfers its entire range of services to East Germany. At the same time, an extremely dynamic expansion of the company's own property development business. The head office in Dessau-Roßlau with its own administration and its own building yard, with another branch in Leipzig to follow. They are led by by Karlheinz Heffner, the nephew of Heinz Scheidel. D&S is still one of the major employers in the construction industry in the Dessau-Leipzig region.

The project development and property development area becomes an independent task of the DIRINGER & SCHEIDEL Wohn- und Gewerbebau GmbH. From this commitment, ACCURATA Immobilienverwaltung GmbH and DIRINGER & SCHEIDEL Gebäudemenagement GmbH are born. Both companies, as an administrator and facility manager, provide all administrative, commercial and technical services for the services related to real estate over the course of its life cycle.
A forward-looking option is opening up in the construction sector. Through the successive unification DIRINGER & SCHEIDEL Rohrsanierung GmbH & Co. KG was founded by four specialist companies. As an allrounder, the company has the entire, complex know-how and nearly all process technologies for the trenchless, high-tech rehabilitation of sewage systems, water and gas pipelines. Nationwide and in European foreign countries, it works with active specialists with the market leaders of the industry. Tobias Volckmann joins the family as a new member of the group of companies.
D&S is active in the real estate service sector and is successfully establishing itself with new residential and service concepts in this future market. As a result, the subsidiary companies ARIVA Hotel GmbH and avendi Senioren Service GmbH are born, which establish themselves as the operating companies on their regional markets in recent years. A short time later, Achim Ihrig joins the service sector as a further family member for Heinz Scheidel.
Due to the ongoing consolidation and diversification of the group of companies, it is structured in three holding companies in accordance with their different service areas (construction, project development, pipe rehabilitation, technology, building materials and services) and the the resulting allocation of the individual companies.
In the field of trenchless pipe rehabilitation of sewage systems, water and gas pipelines, D&S expands its range of business services and, for the first time as a service provider, is developing its own powerful, patented components for all aspects of remediation technology for the market, as well as innovative robot systems.
The development of the Q 6 Q 7 quarter in Mannheim's city centre - with more than 300 million euros, the largest D&S in-house project to date - leads to the foundation of CRM-Center & Retail Management GmbH. Together with the newly structured Property and Facility Management and OCC Management GmbH, D&S offers investors and owners of commercial real estate including retail real estate comprehensive property and operations management as well as necessary planning services "from one source".
Following the sale of Q 6 Q 7 to BMO Real Estate Deutschland by D&S in the summer, the area opened in September. D&S subsidiaries takes over the Centre Management, Facility and Property Management and operation of the international Radisson Blu Hotel, Mannheim.

The management board of the owner families, consisting of Heinz Scheidel (Chairman of the Executive Board), Karlheinz Heffner (Chief Technology Officer), Tobias Volckmann (Chief Financial Officer) and Achim Ihrig (Management Services) will continue to be responsible for the sustainable, solid continuation and development of the group of companies with 3,800 employees, of which approx. 1,600 are in the construction industry. D&S successfully asserts itself as a project developer in the residential, office, retail, hotel and care sectors on the market with its own major projects. Five hotels are managed by ARIVA Hotel GmbH, including the Radisson Blu Hotel, Mannheim, which opened under Q 6 Q 7, and the Hilton Garden Inn at Mannheim Central Station, which opened in April 2019.
avendi Senioren Service GmbH successfully operates 26 senior citizens' facilities nationwide for in-patient and out-patient care as well as senior citizen residences. Over 50% of the workforce is now employed in the service sector. In addition to forward-looking investments in correlating branches of industry and state-of-the-art technologies, the qualified employees under the experienced management of their managing directors remain the Group's most valuable asset. Their solid education and training and their solidarity with the company ensure that the necessary transfer of knowledge between the generations takes place at a high level and in mutual respect. The management and personnel work together every day to successfully shape the future of the DIRINGER & SCHEIDEL group of companies.
